Somehow, Der8auer has managed to get hold of a new graphics card, but a very special one. In fact, it’s an RTX Titan Ada, a model that never saw the light of day. However, at least one model seem to have been produced, and it’s functional. Legend has it that it was found in the same bin as the RTX 4090 Ti prototype. The German clocker offers us a video of it.

RTX Titan Ada: an unreleased model in the hands of Der8auer!

RTX 4000 Titan

This is a massive model, with the heatsink alone taking up no less than 4 slots in the case. The case, of which a number of prototypes have been seen on the net, has gold edges with Titan branding on the side. What’s more, this model has another special feature: it has two 12VHPWR connectors… Even though the card’s power consumption is capped at 450W. How can this power consumption limit be explained? Was firmware being prepared before the project was cancelled? It’s hard to say.

As for the configuration, this model has a full AD102 GPU with 18432 cuda cores. In terms of VRAM, we have 48GB of GDDR6X memory, all on a 384-bit bus. In short, when you add it all up, this model has twice as much VRAM and 12% more cuda core than an RTX 4090.

For the tests, we had to find a driver to make the card work, and unfortunately we had to go back to a driver dating from 2023 to do so. In terms of performance, on average we found a difference in favour of the Titan Ada of up to 22% on Cyberpunk 2077 without ray tracing. In synthetic tests, the performance gap is between 7% and 15%.

Now it remains to be seen why NVIDIA has cancelled the launch of its card. But Der8auer speculates that the impressive performance of this model would have made the RTX 5090 rather unappetising in the end.
