Here’s what you need to know about the inner workings of modern spyware and how to stay away from apps that know too much

The world of espionage has gone digital. Rather than involving trench coats and secret missions, it’s now about silent cyberthreats that can turn phones into secret surveillance devices. In other words, today’s battleground is in people’s pockets, as malicious tools pose as everyday apps and can, in extreme cases, compromise your devices even without you needing to do a thing.

In this episode of Unlocked 403, the show’s host Becks is joined by Lukas Stefanko, a malware researcher at ESET, to unpack the evolution of spying in the digital age and to shed light on the ins and outs of modern spyware. Lukas also shares his findings about tools such as BadBazaar, discovered by ESET, as well as his best tips for spotting and getting rid of spyware.

Lukas is a familiar face on the podcast, so make sure to watch also this episode that looked under the hood of Android threats.
