New AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D leaks have emerged today, not only solidifying some of the rumors we’ve heard of its release, but also showcasing the potential performance uplift over AMD’s current best CPU for gaming, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D.

The new leak comes in the form of a Geekbench 6.3.0 entry (highlighted by a number of X tech leakers), that shows both single core and multi core benchmark performance of the rumored 9850X3D.

While it’s worth taking the new leaks with a pinch of salt, rumored CPUs seen on Geekbench usually end up coming to fruition. Meaning we’ll more than likely see the final few parts of AMD’s Ryzen 9000 series land sometime next year – Q1 if we’re lucky.

Ryzen 7 9850X3D vs 9800X3D, Geekbench scores compared

With little official information to go off, the only comparison worth noting is the Geekbench 6 single core and multi core scores for both the 9800X3D and rumored 9850X3D. This won’t tell the full story, but it should give us some indication as to how the chip could perform.

Benchmark Ryzen 7 9850X3D Ryzen 7 9800X3D
Single-core score 3,439 3,334
Multi-core score 17,530 18,335

As you can see from the table above, there’s very little difference when comparing the 9850X3D and the 9800X3D. As for single core performance, the 9850X3D edges out the current flagship by 105 points. Interestingly, the 9800X3D still manages a better score over the rumored part.

It’s hard to draw any real-world conclusions from the above findings, as plenty could change between now and launch date. We’ll save our judgements on the new part until it officially launches and we get to give it a full review.

Ultimately, the only real takeaway here is the fact that the 9850X3D is most likely to launch under the naming. As and when it’ll launch is still very much up in the air. Thankfully, AMD’s CES keynote is only a few short weeks away, so chances are, we’ll learn plenty more then.
