Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 are on sale for excellent prices. The digital version of the Definitive Edition is discounted to $39.89 (was $60) at Amazon and Walmart. Both retailers are also offering a similar price cut on the digital version of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 that drops the price to $41.88 (was $60). You can pair the sequel with the Expansion Pass for $20.88 (was $30) from Walmart. The Expansion Pass includes the stellar story expansion Torna – The Golden Country.
When you purchase a digital Nintendo Switch game from a major retailer like Amazon and Walmart, you receive a download code to redeem on the Nintendo eShop. Both games were first discounted to these prices in mid-October and are back in stock as of November 5. Amazon previously had the Xenoblade 2 Expansion Pass for the same price as Walmart but has since sold out. Neither game receives discounts all too often, and these are two of the best RPGs you can play on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.
$39.89 (was $60)
Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition remains one of the best RPGs on Nintendo Switch more than five years after its release. It’s even more impressive when you consider the fact the Definitive Edition was the third version of Monolith Soft’s massive adventure. Xenoblade originally released on Wii in 2010 and was later ported to New Nintendo 3DS in 2015.
Xenoblade Chronicles has a highly rewarding real-time, action-battle combat system with multiple difficulty settings available. The Definitive Edition’s Future Connected epilogue adds 10-20 hours of additional story content on top of the 50-plus hour mainline campaign.
Along with superb gameplay and a beautiful world to explore, Xenoblade Chronicles has a great ensemble cast led by protagonist Shulk and excellent writing. From a story perspective, the Xenoblade Chronicles Trilogy is one of the best modern series in the genre.
The Definitive Edition earned a 9/10 in our Xenoblade Chronicles review.
$41.88 (was $60)
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 launched in 2017 as the Nintendo Switch’s first major RPG exclusive. While it’s not as highly regarded as the original, it’s still one of the better role-playing games on Switch (and Switch 2). While you don’t technically need to play the first game to enjoy Xenoblade 2, it’s highly recommended you play each game in chronological order to experience the full weight of the trilogy’s overarching story.
The sequel has some pacing and narrative issues, but the combat system remains awesome, and the expansive world is a joy to explore. Xenoblade 2 starts quite slow, but the back half of the 60-plus hour campaign is thrilling. Check out our Xenoblade Chronicles 2 review for more details.
$20.88 (was $30) | Includes Torna – The Golden Country
A standalone expansion called Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna – The Golden Country released in 2018. Torna takes place roughly 500 years after the base game and has a new cast of characters. The roughly 20-hour campaign is available as a standalone purchase for $40, but if you own the base game, you save money by purchasing the Expansion Pass instead.
On sale at Walmart for only $20.88–roughly half the price of Torna on its own–the Expansion Pass includes the story expansion, additional quests, Challenge Battle mode, multiple Rare Blades for Shulk and Fiora, and more items.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 isn’t on sale for nearly as steep of a discount, but you can save around five bucks on the digital bundle with the base game and Expansion Pass at Amazon.
Xenoblade Chronicles Series – Physical Editions

- Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition
- Xenoblade Chonicles: Definitive Edition
- Xenoblade Chronicles 2
- Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna – The Golden Country
- Xenoblade Chronicles 3
If you’re looking for physical editions of the mainline series, you typically will wind up paying full price–if you can find copies in stock at all. US editions of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Torna – The Golden Country often sell for above retail price, but you can often get these and other Xenoblade games for less by opting for region-free imports from the UK. Regardless of region, getting physical editions of the Xenoblade trilogy often means buying from third-party resellers. The physical editions listed above are from resellers but are fulfilled by Amazon or Walmart.
The enhanced port of the Wii U spin-off Xenoblade Chronicles X released on Nintendo Switch in March. Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition’s physical edition is available for $54.78 (was $60) at Amazon and Walmart. Xenoblade Chronicles X is more action-oriented than the main trilogy and can be fully enjoyed without prior knowledge of the series.
Note: If you buy an international edition of Xenoblade 2, it will only be compatible with the Expansion Pass from the European eShop. This doesn’t apply to the standalone edition of Torna – The Golden Country since it’s considered a separate game. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 also has an Expansion Pass that must match the region of your physical or digital copy.
